Does anyone have a career with adhd and avoidance personality disorder?
Nope..no career here.. I can't seem to hold a job to long..last time I worked was 2015.. I'm off and on..now I stay home and be a mother and wife.. at 53 years old..how crazy is that..🥴just newly diagnosed with ADHD.. it all makes more sense to me now..even though I'm still crazy..😓 on new meds ( only a few days ago).
I’m a rural mail carrier for USPS. Hear me out….
The job basically entails coming into the office and going into your case (sort of like a cubicle with a slot for every address…my route has 1000). We sort our mail, catalogs, etc. Then we organize all the packages into route order, load up the mail truck, and depart on our routes.
My personal struggle with the adhd is getting distracted in the office with gossip or the bitching or movies…my boss directs me to “headphones” (meaning go back to your case and shush). I’m new to non-stimulant medication (hopefully notice more concentration, less space-cadet) and the adhd diagnosis…about a month in…but it sure explains my wandering around and outbursts. I have my office work down to a science, and if I keep to myself, I get onto the street very quickly!
So once I am on the route, I “play” my route like a video game!!! (Haha, everyone giggles at that, but that’s how my brain works) I work alone, I am always go go go, my job is about accuracy and racing the clock. It is never boring, and on the street I am only distracted by cute things and critters and plants.
Anyway, that’s what I do. The job is a perfect match for me and my crazy. (& we are always hiring!) ♥️
