My doctor just started me on 15 mg of Adderall XR which I took my first dose of this morning. I took it with food because I read that some people have an unpleasantly intense experience on an empty stomach. So far, the focus level I'm experiencing is amazing, I am less moody, and less anxious. I wonder if my usual level of anxiety is related to having poor overall awareness and not really knowing what's going on. Also, weirdly, my resting heart rate is 20 to 30 beats less than usual. Lastly, food has no appeal to me. I got what I usually like at my lunch break, forced down half the sandwich, and my body took a hard pass on the rest. It's almost funny because I just looked at the food for a minute and had to manually remind myself what I was supposed to do with it.

My first day of Adderall XR
Good Morning and Welcome to the Med Crew-
Stick with it for a bit, if it works you'll know.. If it doesn't or at any time you are having any issues with your medication DO NOT HESSITATE TO CALL THE OFFICE! A good office and a good doctor will be there any time you need them regarding any of your health concerns...
I personally have found that medication is just a piece of my overall structure and ADHD plan. It is a very important part but I have benefitted from setting alarms, using technology, timers, accountability partners etc. in addition to the meds.
If you have not found or heard of ADHDRewired and Eric Tivers CHECK HIM OUT =) He is fantastic! I have been a long time listener of his podcast and his Facebook page and all things ADHD he's involved in! He's got tons of must have tips tricks etc. that have been instrumental in my "Mastering" ADHD lol
Best of Luck!
Let me know if you ever have any other questions.. been a member of the "tribe" since 2009 and been through almost all of it so.. I am here should you need anything

I have been on and off adderall xr for years and I had similar aversion to food at first but your appetite will start to come back the more you get used to it. I found that when I was on it I would binge on food less and I was more conscious of what I was eating. The reason I always end up getting off of the xr is because it starts to really affect my sleep. While I was still able to function because I was pumped up on adderall I would only be sleeping 4-5 hours a night. I got a lot done and my focus was never better but I was also becoming more irritable and started feeling strung out a lot. Just something you’ll want to monitor.
That's great I have been taking Adderall XR for near on 2 years now. Your reaction is very similar to what mine was as I started on it again. I have taken stimulants off and on since I was very young, think 4 or 5. Remember that finding a correct dosage takes time. I remember at about 15 mg Adderall XR it felt great for about 2 weeks. Then it seemed to quit working by mid afternoon or even shortly after lunch. That is completely normal that your brain seems to adjust to medication and you realize you need just a bit more. My doctor slowly increased my dose every few weeks. 20 mg, with a lunch time 10mg Adderall(not xr) really works best for me. However, with my inability to remember to take the afternoon one I ended up opting for Adderall XR 30mg first thing in the morning. I also normally noticed that after a few weeks my appetite returned to normal to where I was actually hungry through out the day but I never needed as much to feel satiated or to snack throughout the day. Which I do not consider a negative side effect as well. Really the only negatives I have noticed is if I space to take it first thing in the morning I have to pass on it completely as taking it after 11 I might as well settle with not sleeping on a normal schedule. Also I am always so thirsty, I have constant feeling of needing to drink more water which is super common with Adderall and incredibly important. So I really had to consciously push more water and not substituting with sodas and such. Good luck!
