Will I ever be like a normal person?

It's been a hell of a time for me.. I have often question my thoughts, interests, feelings and thoughts.. I knew my behaviour wasn't normal.. Always disinterested and depressed.. Until I found out about my ADHD..

Yes, I have always wanted to.. But who's going to listen, perhaps, nobody can ever understand.

You never know.. it’s worth a try. If not for nothing else, venting can release some stress.

You know what made a huge difference for me? One day I have just understood that I am worthy and I deserve it [a life that i am satisfied/happy with] just the way I am. Probably there was a long road to this insight but anyway. I accepted myself as i was: with depression, mood swings, frustration caused by adhd interrupting my life etc. I understood I AM a complex nature and I am still learning about myself and the world around so I feel the way I feel. I allowed myself to be and I embraced my real-ness. Without pretending to be happy and easy etc. But since I want to be a better person, I know that I deserve to be worked on and I will do so. Everyone has potential. Me too. I have decided to move forward even with small steps but still towards this potential.

That’s excellent advice! And it’s so true

"Normal" is defined by each person. There is no broad description of what normal is. Life is what you make of it. So, now you have been diagnosed with ADHD? Ok, well now your normal includes ADHD. Learn to love yourself, tame the bad symptoms the best way you can, embrace the rest. Good luck on your journey. :)

I am beginning to understand that it's important I learn to love myself.. And be mindful to tame the bad symptoms..

I must appreciate your kind words, they are very reassuring.

Hi Mike1988 . Normal is a setting on a Washing Machine. No-one is normal. now, some people talk about ADHD versus 'Neurotypical' where the person in question doesn't have a neurodevelopmental disorder of impacted Self-Regulation (aka. ADHD.) That being said, although we are outnumbered, there are a lot more of us than you may think. So, as I understand it (very simplified) neurotypical types are vertical thinkers, and we neuro-diverse people are horizontal thinkers. They have certain strengths, and we have others. Most of 'them' don't hyper-focus, while entering a 'flow' state comes naturally to us. They don't react well in emergencies, while we can keep a straight head and get to work as if nothing is wrong... we have a mission and urgency clears our heads. They are great at prioritizing, and we are great at coming up with options and brainstorming. They see practicality, we see possibility. We can question anything... yeah, bummer - but hey, in the right context that can be an amazing gift! Let me know if you would like to talk about it.
