Colds and ADHD or just a myth?

Is it true that adults living with ADHD are more susceptible to colds or getting sick more often? Sick as in the common cold. Is it due to the medications that we take for ADHD? Or is this a myth? I found that I get colds so often during the change of seasons and they take so long to go away. I have been tested for allergies and found that I don't have them. My sinuses have been checked and passed. Or is this something else? Any recommendations for types of foods to avoid and what should we eat more of often? I do know that fish is really helpful in our diets but that can be expensive.

Well, I did find an interesting article about it. The article came out 2017.

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/2...

I hope this link works.

The article focuses mostly on children with ADHD that may be a highly inflammation and immune-associated disease (Review).

I'm not clear what that means. Anyone? I'll try and see if Google can explain more what this means- "highly inflammation & immune associated disease."

I read the article you are referring to, and “highly inflammation and immune associated disease” is a fancy way of saying that their study showed a strong possibility that ADHD can be caused by your body’s immune system and inflammation. This also leaves a person with ADHD at a higher risk for developing upper respiratory infections or colds.

In cases of immune system over activity, the body attacks and damages its own tissues (autoimmune diseases). Immune deficiency diseases decrease the body's ability to fight invaders, causing vulnerability to infections. ... Immune system cells then attack the joints, causing inflammation, swelling, and pain.

I have the exact same thing that happens to me. Constant colds and sinus issues.

I have been on adderal xr for over 10 years, and I have never had a cold/flu. I do make sure that eat enough organic fruit all the time. Keep your immune system healthy, use good hygiene, especially if you come in contact with someone who has it. Handwashing truly works, along with cleaning anything that person has touched or coughed on.

I do all of those healthy habits. It's good to know about the Adderal. I take over the counter Unicka cold medicine and it works so much better for me than any other cold medicine like night quill and day quill, those do nothing for me except coat my sore throat. After I took Unicka cold medicine for a week. My cold went away so much quicker than the other stuff took weeks.
