Just started ADHD meds at 37 yrs old.

Hey! I just joined. So I am 37 years old and have been diagnosed with ADHD since I was 10. I also have Tourette’s. So I finally caved and went to my PCP yesterday and he put me on vyvance. So have a 2 year old and my adhd has really gotten worse over the years. Well I kinda feel like blah. Not motivated and tired. This is normal right? I’m only on day 2. My mom and boyfriend tell me to at least give it a few weeks. I feel like maybe my brain is in SHOCK because I’m used to being so spastic 😂. Advise would be great ☮️ ❤️

I agree with your mom and boyfriend Give it a few weeks, like three or four, to give it a chance to work. Or, if you feel more comfortable, call your doctor and ask how long it should be to give it a chance to even out. I have taken it, but I don't remember how it was at the beginning. I had to go off it because I have high heart rate, so I can't take stimulants anymore. I take atomoxetine now. I hope it works out for you!👍

The ruminating thoughts quieted down a bit? How do you feel? It’s probably a different norm than what your used to right. Less emotional?

I feel ok. Just new. I’ve noticed if I actually am up doing stuff it is starting to help. I think I want like an instant cure so that messes with me mentally. I know I have to give it time. Tomorrow will be day 4 and I go to the dr Tuesday. I really appreciate the reply

Look at the glass half full. I'd rather learn about what kind of help I need and how to get it at 37 than at 70 like me. Go for it.
