“Well yeah, that person with ADHD can do it but it’s different when it’s me. I ACTUALLY can’t. There’s no way I can accomplish that. There’s no way anything that good could ever happen to me. I’m not capable of achieving anything with this brain. I’m not smart. I’m stupid. Yeah that person with ADHD did it but my ADHD is completely different and they worked with theirs somehow. I’ll NEVER be able to do that too. I’m helpless.”
.... These are just some of the many thoughts I had before I tried going to school again a little over a year ago. Now I’m here to say that I DID IT. I’m accomplishing something! For once in my life I am going to FINISH a goal. I’m about to graduate and I’m going to go into a great field that I love! I don’t know how I’m finally that person who can say that I did something... right?..
Now here’s the thing to all you people reading this post. If any of you are thinking, “Well yeah she can do it, but she’s different. There’s no way I can...” Let me tell you that was me. It still is me a lot of the time. But I just want to say that yes I’m different than you are but you are in every way just as capable as I am. I promise you.
Everyone’s experience with ADHD is different. But..
YOUR way IS out there. Never stop trying. You WILL find your way to work with your brain. Please don’t ever stop trying you guys. I don’t know you. I don’t know the exact negative experiences your ADHD and other people have put you through, but your way is out there. You ARE capable. You’re going to do so many great things that you don’t even know about yet! But I promise you’re not alone in those thoughts of “I can’t” and I hope more than anything that your time will be here soon to share your story about how YOU did it. Because I believe more than anything that your day will come I just want you to believe it too.
Keep fighting. <3
