A Visual over Non Visual learner

As much as I don't like my ADHD and consider it a hinderance. One thing I have experienced is that I'm much more of a visual learner. In order for me to really get the grasp of things or really understand how things work, I need a visual presentation of how it works or how the concept is overall applied to the format. Personally I've always considered visual learning to be more of a pleasant experience. What do you guys think? Are you more of visual learners too? I hear it's common with ADHD people.

100% for me too. I actually had neuropsych testing done a few years ago and I excelled in all of the visual parts of the test, and I was even diagnosed with an auditory processing disorder. Lol. I’d say I’m an intelligent person but it’s crazy sometimes how I cannot grasp certain complex financing or tax credit structures for my career, when someone tells them to me, but I have no problem understanding the same scenario if it’s written down for me to look at.

I know exactly what you are saying. Somethings come across to me as soooo complex when it should just be black and white like it is to others. Nothing seems to be black and white with ADHD and anxiety. It is almost a presentation anxiety when relationships are involved. It becomes personal to me and my buttons get pushed. This is how I go through so many relationships because I am so intense.

Absolutely. I’m also all about knowing the “why” of a process. I want to know why/how me doing this is going to affect other things.

Also writing things down is more effective for me than putting it in an electric format

Do a google search on “‘mind mapping” when you get a second. I recently watched a string of TedTalks on it and it’s worked very well for visualizing thoughts and concepts.

Visual defiantly! With jobs I have had it always helped me to be shown how to do the stuff I needed to do. Also, I like it when there is someone there who I can mentor and shadow. That makes it so much more possible for me to succeed

Yes, I'm absolutely a visual learner! I think it has to do with problems focusing on listening. I find that things need to be right in front of me and then it makes more sense. If it's auditory, then I need an outline or visual representation to help it sink in.

I am definetly a visual learner. But it does not seem to take away from my desire to have my articulate side back. I miss it. Even with my ADHD I would have soild conversations but now it is as if I have lost my drive.
