I’m trying to find a video (prob animated) for a kindergartener to explain how SSRIs work. Everything I’ve found so far is too technical. Can anyone suggest one? What I’m looking for is basically (and I realize this isn’t the message everyone would want) “This is Serotonin. When you don’t have enough, you don’t feel as good as you can/deserve and everything is harder. Some people’s brains get confused and vacuum up their Serotonin before they can use it. SSRI’s stop the vacuum from taking away the Serotonin you need.”

Our son is in college and he has no idea about Serotonin. I think you could start by helping your child understand is their brain is different and that there are tools that can help.
You can then explain more at a higher level in a few years.
Good luck
Thanks! We’ve done a lot of work helping him understand himself/how his brain works. “My Brain Is a Race Car” is a favorite book, but he was curious about how the medicine works inside him. I found a video and a few stills and he totally got it.

I'm glad you found something. I think it's important to educate them young. My 10 year old will make jokes about chasing the dopamine lol
