We have a 10 year old self-diagnosed girl with ADHD and she is regressing in school especially in math. Stuff that she learned 1-2 years ago, she doesn't recall. What are good options to teach her? Are there any support group out there for tips on how to deal with simple tasks for a kid with ADHD?
Thank you

Hi! We have similar situation with remembering simple math and ELA (adhd/ dyslexia). Our daughter, took many outschool.com classes to learn basic math facts and phonics. At times it was classes for kids with dyslexia and at times it wasn’t and she was simply the oldest in class ( she didn’t mind). One class was focused on one math fact a week.. a whole hour on one thing..she learned a lot and was at the pace she needed to supplement what was being learned in school. Along with that she has a Mathnasium membership. I tell the instructors to let her work at her pace,, we aren’t rushing anywhere.. good luck!
Hi, my daughter who is 11 is having the similar challenges, unfortunately with the regression of math and peer issues I chose to provide home instruction so that I can teach her at her pace since most public schools are a one size fits all. I have noticed an improvement. So perhaps if she is in the school system, provide tutoring and work with the school.
When I suspected my child had adhd, I talked with the school counselor first to learn about how we could best help my child. The school counselor arranged for the school psychologist to come and evaluate my child for services through the school to help my child be successful. Without talking to the school, these services would have been missed. I also took my child to the doctor for the appropriate diagnoses and documentation to make sure the best possible services could be given to my son to help him be successful. I know most of us can see adhd in ourselves or our kids but it's really important to get the right diagnosis so we can ensure them the right help. Where I live an Education Assistance Plan was created. I'm probably saying it wrong but at least it put us all on the same page. 504 plans exist too to help our kids.
