Summer programs for ADHD teens?

adhdazedandconfused profile image

Anyone aware of summer therapeutic programs that focus on executive functioning skills? I've seen a few that look great but they are just for boys. I have a 16 year old daughter. There's an educational consulting company in my town that does placement for these kinds of things but they want over $4,000 JUST for the placement! I thought I would see if I could get any personal recommendations first.

I Was just looking into sending my 12 yo son to the soar summer camp, Do you mind me asking if you’ve done the Florida or Wyoming location and which your child preferred. Thank you!

He’s done horseback riding and 2E, which he enjoyed, and the Christmas in the Keys in Dec ‘19, which he loved! We’re in Louisiana, so as much as he’d like to attend WY, it’s not easy for us to get him there. They know how to handle our kids, and he always makes friends there.

Great to here. As I looked through the videos and pictures I got a feeling that this was a very patient staff. My son loves friends, it’s actually the thing we use as a reward/consequence to help manage his behavior. So I thought this looked right up his ally being around kids 24/7. Maybe the fact that he won’t have a cell phone will benefit my sanity. I’m Constantly checking in on him so I can get ahead of any decision he makes that might be a problem. I think I could use the break considering out of 4 kids most my energy goes to this little guy. Thank you so much for the info😃

They give them goals. There’s a very detailed questionnaire about your child when you register. They want to know what they can help them work on, what their strengths and weaknesses are. Everything is done with a purpose, but done so positively and fun that the kids don’t realize. They are extremely patient and accepting of everyone!
