Diagnosed with ADHD
Welcome! So much to learn about how to support your son.
We are always here for you.
We hope you gain support and encouragement from this group.
Not sure how old your son is but know that this is a journey and we are all in it together..
Big hugs.
I’m new to it too. How old is yours? I have a soon to be 8 year old boy. He’s moderately ADHD but the school thinks he’s like severe, which he’s not. I’ve never been more stressed in my life. We can be ADHD buddies. LOL.
Additudemag.com is a great resource. I listen to webinars and read all sorts of articles that are truly helpful. Also- my husband and I just went through 10 weeks of patently cognitive behavioral classes with a therapist- I would highly recommend!!!! It teaches us how to support our son, how to punish an adhd kid and school support. The biggest thing we learned is we aren’t doing anything wrong— raising an beautiful ADHD brain is often frustrating, but that is normal. That took a weigh off right away. Happy to chat just send me pm. Good Luck. BTW- my son is 10
I would urge you to watch the following youtube session by Prof Russell Barkley, 30 Essential Ideas for Parents with ADHD children, I have watched it numerous times and then later taken 15 lectures and other ADHD presentations by Barkley - youtube.com/watch?v=SCAGc-r... - give it atry, I promise you won't regret having spent 2,5 hours getting a thourough introduction into misconceptions and facts wrt children and ADHD - best wishes
