I just want to say my ADHD son is the best company in the world and people say how thoughtful he is. My biggest worry is that he gets tired easily after long bouts of energy on his own creative projects. He never watches TV and always has a project going.
But as a 14 year old he was impossible to talk to and could not be reasoned with
As a 10 year old the school did not want him. The playgroup would not have him. People would stare and complain if you took him out and holidays elsewhere were just not worth the effort.
Yet Some Teachers when he was 15 years plus, remember him fondly and say he was fun, witty and helpful. They keep in touch with him. He has few friends of his own age but gets on well with older people.
It seems his early difficulties had given him insight and viewpoints beyond his years.
I struggle to remember the bad bits and just love his company.
Hope you all can experience this in some way as with support, understanding, lots of leeway and good teachers they come through really well.
