Extreme fatigue. Could it be the trileptal? Low sodium?

My soon to be 9 year old son has been on Guanfacine for 1.5 years. We are on 3mg. Once a day. Started having more issues at home and the school too. Psychiatrist added trileptal - 75mg am, and 75 mg after school. It’s been 3 weeks and 2 days since we started. If anything, his moods have gotten worse until today. He work up for school extremely tire after sleeping 10 hours. Could only peel himself off the couch to get dressed and brush teeth with my assistance, we tried going to school but he was so tired I brought him home. He slept from 9:15-11:30. He barely made it to us leaving the house for therapy at 3:30 where he fell asleep in the car. He also asked in therapy if he could sleep on the way home, which he immediately did. He was in bed for nighttime at 8, and he was so sleepy. He isn’t sick, I don’t think it’s a growth spurt. He is eating normal. Behavior has been the best it’s EVER been oddly enough. Either the trileptal is just kicking in after 3 weeks or im thinking low sodium levels. Anyone have experience with this? He has ADHD combined diagnosis. Thank you.

I would ask the doctor about this.. it is winter and lots of sicknesses are going around.

Whatever it is it's not normal.

Hope he gets better soon.

Guanfacine was very sedating for my son and he would fall asleep all of the time, especially as the dosage increased. I’m not familiar with the other medication. Ultimately, our psychiatrist recommended broad spectrum micronutrients and my son was able to come off all medications. I highly recommend you research them to see if they might be appropriate for your son. Best wishes!
