Well, fidgetiness alone is not enough to warrant an ADHD diagnosis, and could be due to a variety of things. Do you also see this behavior at home? Perhaps just a squeeze or fidget toy in the classroom can help with this. A friend of mine has had a lot of success with his son using a chair band he can bounce his feet on.
That being said, ADHD has a highly hereditary component, so I would report the teacher’s findings to your pediatrician and let them decide if an evaluation is necessary.
They say boys attention span matures later than girls. How much of a disruption is he in class? If he is able to get his work done and not bother other students I wouldn't be too quick to say he has ADHD.
As you know the best person to make that determination is a doctor. It might be helpful to ask the teacher specific questions about his classroom work, such as: Is he able to complete his classwork? Is he able to answer questions following instruction? How does he relate to his peers? Since you have been through this before, you are really the best person to decide if and when to move forward with testing.
Well, we cannot say that your son has ADHD on the basis of a single sign/ symptom. on the other hand, there is nothing wrong if you wanted to get him diagnosed, in fact, it will give you clear guidance.
