Anyone else’s kids talk about inappropriate stuff with others? Private Body parts or poop and stuff? Mine does and we tell him what’s appropriate but he still does it.

Inappropriate talking

Not sure how old he is, this is partly a boy thing... but an impulse issue also.
Yes often daily. Potty talk especially. It escalates when he is wanting extra attention and feeling like too much is going to his sister or also when he’s nervous. Certain friends magnify it too, and steering clear of those boys has helped quite a bit. Along with consistent reminders, like no potty talk at the table, in the car; etc, we allow space for those words inviting him to say potty talk in his room If he wants but that we want to be with him and would rather he stay and switch words. Over time it has helped to make the episodes much shorter if not less frequent.
My 5 year old does the same and he'll definitely exhaust us with the inappropriate chatter. Like "check out my butt dad" or a lot of poop and pee talk. Then we ran into our friends and their son, same age (No ADHD) and he was just as bad. I'd say, depending on age, it's totally a boy thing.
Good to know. Thanks all!!!!
Of course! Verbally impulsive. Just keep explaining why it’s inappropriate & suggest better things to talk about. (Deep sigh) We are going through this too BUT I s getting better.

Oh my, yes! My 6 year old does some (he really likes to talk about diapers lately.) And his BFF (who has no diagnosis I know of, except being a 6 year old boy) does ALOT.
His friend really does it for attention. So I just don’t give it to him - I ignore it. But an even bigger help is to give lots of attention / praise when he doesn’t do it. They are both praise junkies.
All three of my boys did this bathroom talk stuff! My youngest, who is 14 now, still does this with his buddies. I am appalled sometimes. His friend came over to spend the night the other day and I heard my son telling him how many times he ‘took a crap’ the night before. Then his friend goes on to reciprocate and describe his bathroom visits. Yuck!
