Hello I’m wondering what do the parents do for relief I’m so overwhelmed i work full time had to quit school i seem to get agitated with my child who had ADHD very quick because i for get that the things i think she should knw and remember she doesn’t i even sought counseling myself as a outlet to relieve me in hopes of coming a better caregiver for her any parents an children in Michigan I’d love to be apart of face to face support like park meet ups coffee houses just an idea

Taneisha, I don't live in your area, so I'm sorry that I wouldn't be able to meet up with you. I think you're on the right track though in terms of seeking out others to meet up with for support. If you can't find people in this group, there are other options you can consider in terms of an outlet in order to get a break, because you absolutely need to have a break.

For me I get a break through writing. I love to write, so I have joined a writer's group that meets once a month. I also go to writing conferences. This has connected me to a huge writing community. So although these people aren't parents of kids with ADHD, it's a way of getting out of the house and having a break.

You can check out community classes and explore a new hobby. Some communities have free or low-cost classes you can take. This is another way to get out and have a break.

Also, you can check CHADD's website and see if there is a chapter near you where you can meet other parents like yourself.
