ODD

Hi there, Does anyone has a child that’s been diagnosed with ODD? I’m trying to figure out what is disease behavior like. I’m trying to distinguish which is just bad behavior ie talking back but sometimes my 9 year old can be very mean with her words and then I come down really hard on her for that. Just struggling through and would like a little advice.

Thanks for the book recommendation, at this point I'll try anything. Therapy is not working like I thought it would almost 2 yrs in and things are getting worse instead of better for her.

When you tell your child the grass is green and they argue that its not... They are ODD. Seriously, I know it sucks. To me, its part of the ADHD package. Defiance is an impulse...an impulse a child makes because they can't calmly express thier opposition to something. They lack ability to process the consequences of their crappy behavior. Mine got defiant... physically and verbally, that she is now on Seroquel, to calm the odd and anger. Helps, but also use positive rewards.

Omg. Every day, I tell my son to stop trying to correct me and fight me about everything that I say. I didn’t know there was a term for this. Thank you.
