Parent with 7 y/o Adhd kid

Our son was diagnosed with Adhd at the age of 6. He is now in 2nd grade and shows improvements in school with meds. He doesn't take meds when not in school and during weekends and that we have issues dealing with his impulsiveness, inattention & hyperactivity. We are looking for good & affordable summer programs options in NYC for Adhd kids. We have some in mind (KUMON & Fordham Reading Program) but need some input, suggestions and advice on these programs.

Hi, I am a mother of 6 year old boy in Grade 1. He has been diagnosed with ADHD recently. I have a personal experience with KUMON in Japan. With my experience, I'm not sure if it's the same style in the U.S. but you should be a self-starter during 30 minutes session. There is an adult but she is there just to mark if you got the correct answer. (I took math.) Also there are others doing their worksheet in the same room.

My son's case, he has impulse, sometimes hyper and inattentive so I thought he needs someone sitting right beside him. We're starting tutor service next month.

But you can also call local KUMON to ask questions if it's the right program for your son.

I'm going to follow your post as I'm curious what others experiences are.

For lumon i heard they also give homework daily and just spend selectiiv time well you should explore.

If we have to do hw daily in hw then i think better to do practice at home .

Well my son is also going to be 7 in May same issues lack of focus and speech problems as well
