Medication shortage

Is anyone else suffering the Quillivant and Quillichew shortage? I don't want to switch my son to a different medication, but I am concerned about school. He's doing so well and just became a spelling bee finalist. His condition is more of, having problems staying focused and often forgets tasks he's been told to do. I'm trying not to stress but I'm so worried. He's made great progress and I don't want him to get upset with himself.

My son was on Quillivant. I learned pharmacies don’t usually keep it on hand because it is very expensive and does not get prescribed a lot. I had to talk to the pharmacist and ask them to keep at least one bottle on hand. I would contact the week before I got it filled so they had time to order or get from another pharmacy. Very frustrating when you want to stay on top of your child having what they need! Good luck!

I do the same thing, but they said it was a nation wide back order. Waiting for the pediatrician to call back though. Thanks!

You can call the manufacturer directly. They may be able to give you more information on 1) the reason for the shortage and 2) when then expect to be able to ship to their distributors (that’s who the local pharmacies order from). Pfizer 1-855-478-4597.

Thank you for the advice, I didn't even think of that.

Don't be worried. Never heard of the 2 Q words? Hope u have him on an IEP at school. Getting upset at himself is normal.

I do, and thank you. I guess getting upset with yourself is true for everyone.

Hi I was told by insurance company and my 6yr old daughter's doctor that Quillivant in liquid form has been recalled. They suggest going back to your doctor to find an alternative. But the company has made a recall on that medication.

That is interesting. I will look into that for sure, thank you!

Sometimes recalls are just specific to one batch. That doesn’t mean it’s discontinued. If you call Pfizer directly you should get some answers.

I’m having trouble getting my sons Quillivant XR prescription. The pharmacy said it would be no sooner than February 10 and to contact my son’s doctor. This is very disappointing. I checked the recall and the bottle we have is on the recall list.

My son was on Quillivant at first and it took me a week to get it at first, and many, many calls to the insurance company to get them to approve it, but now he is on a different medication.

I just tried to refill our quillichew and heard it is on 2 month backorder! I was able to find some by calling around to a bunch of different pharmacies but I really hope this isn’t an ongoing issue bc it has been working so well for us so far!
