My son is 7 and was diagnosed earlier this month with Oppositional Defiant Disorder, ADHD and mood/anxiety disorder. We are doing a combination of medication (started with 5mg of Ritalin) and therapy. At first I thought it helped but now I see the opposite. I am noticing maybe a slight decrease in hyperactivity but the crying and whining seems worse. When he has angry outbursts they are more intense (hit me recently when sent to room for a tantrum and refuses to admit it was purposeful). I have a message into his doctor but has anyone else experienced anything like this? He has been on the mets since Oct 7.

Is it possible that his anxiety is worse? This can occur when taking Ritalin. Ask the doctor if it is worthwhile to stop the medication for a few days and see what happens.
