To those of you who don’t know this chap this is Mike Thalassitis a 26 year old reality tv star who took his own life by hanging on Saturday..

Ending your life is such a permanent thing which could be a temporary solution...

Do you know 84 males end their own life a DAY under the age of 45...

Please repeat that to yourself 84 men a day!!!!

This is devastating

Reduced masculinity

Other issues that affect men - particularly those who are working class - include the need to have a job and provide for their families and relationship problems. According to the Samaritans, when some men believe they're not fulfilling the role of provider they may feel a sense of shame and defeat, which may lead them to consider ending their own life.

Marriage breakdown is also more likely to lead men to end their life, as men tend to rely more on their partners for emotional support than women. Men are also more likely to live separately from their children as the result of relationship breakdowns, and this too may play a role in some men's demise .

Another area the report pinpoints is that of emotional illiteracy. In general, many men across all social classes are reluctant to talk about their emotions, it says. They tend not to deal with emotional problems, and let them build up to breaking point. Men are far less positive about getting formal emotional support for their problems than women. And when they do, it's at the point of crisis.

PLEASE REACH OUT TALK.. to anyone a doctor a family member a loved one... anyone just take your first step and do it today.. remember you ARE LOVED..you are someone’s SON,HUSBAND,FATHER,BROTHER You matter also the devastating loss you leave behind with your loved ones never recover never are the same after either...

hi nat that's a shame about that poor guy had his whole life ahead of him.few days ago I was reading more than 500 men committed suicide in Scotland alone.thought the figures were wrong at first but sadly not.worst thing is all of these guys probably screaming for support but the system keeps them waiting months.i registered in October had an assessment on January I think but have to wait till may/june for therapy.sadly that's far to long to wait for most.

Hi kenny yes the percentage is devastating and you are so right the systems waiting list are far to long I’d say within 7/14 days and give them plenty of support in the meantime to prevent this...and also if we don’t self refer to a therapist the go hardly does anything

Great post Nat, thanks for that. I think with men it can be more difficult for them to acknowledge and to seek help coz they see it as a slur on their manhood. They see themselves as less than a man and are more likely to be in denial.

I do know the biggest cause of death amongst men aged between 25-40 in the western world is suicide. This is very sad and I hope things do change in future. x

Your perfectly right bab I think our lovely males have a reputation to live up to more awareness needs to be around as the odds are literally devastating they need to talk more and things need to change thanks so much hypercat54

Love Nat xx

This is heartbreaking... Im glad this was posted to bring more awareness.I just wish more people opened up about what they r going through, and others weren't so critical of there replies. A lot of people are quick to jump down others throats if they don't like a post or the replies to the post. This could land up with bad outcomes that no one here would even know about. Hugs for everyone and my thoughts are with this guys family and loved ones. :(
