HELP please - migrated coil

hi everyone,

I posted a while back asking for some help and advice regarding some awful symptoms I’ve been having as side effects of my coil.

I had an ultrasound scan which confirmed correct position/location but the coil was on a slight tilt.

after a gynae Dr forcefully tried to remove it, unsuccessfully, I was told I’d be brought in for a general anaesthetic and a hysteroscopy within a fortnight. I ended up waiting 10 weeks. The hysteroscopy was a failure as they couldn’t see the coil in my uterus. I then had an emergency mri last week which showed the coil has migrated through the wall of the uterus and now sits outside of my uterus amongst blood vessels and very close to my bladder. My consultant has told me that it is highly likely I will need a hysterectomy for them to remove the coil now. I am only 30 years of age, and I’m not done having children.

I have been booked in for 22nd to have a laparoscopy which if they cannot see the coil on camera they will go ahead with a hysterectomy. I am desperately looking for a second opinion but am struggling to find any private healthcare places with gynaecologists that do not need referrals as this may delay the op. The consultant is keen for the op to go ahead due to how close the coil is to the bladder plus the fact I now have quite a large hematoma growing near the coil.

Please can someone guide me in the right direction … thank you!

dear Emily, I have no experience of a coil but I just wanted to say how sorry I you are in such a state. I do hope your op goes well & there’s no delay. Thinking of you.
