Anal skin tag surgery

Looking for updates from people who have had surgery to remove anal skin tags. After 2 pregnancies I have been left with a large tag that is getting worse. I was due to have surgery but cancelled as my child was only a few months old and I couldn't face the recovery with a new born. The surgeon has said he would use GA and cut the tag away leaving it to heal on its own. The tag is getting bigger and more uncomfortable and I'm worried if it's left it will continue to grow. Has anyone had this surgery that can offer any advice and updates on how their surgery went? I do not want to be put to sleep I am petrified! I have read that people have had this surgery using local anaesthetic
