HPV positive but had the same partner for 7 years and last smear test was all clear (about 4-5 years ago)

I’m really confused about it and feel really dirty. I’m 100% sure my partner has been faithful to me as well which has left us even more confused. I now have to wait til December to go back. What does this mean for our sex life? Are we just going to keep infecting each other? How do we treat it or are we just supposed to let it hopefully clear up by itself??? The literature on the back says it can lie dormant for years but i still feel really strange! Any advice would be really appreciated.

There is nothing to feel shameful about, a vast proportion of the population is likely to contract this easily contractable condition. But you need reliable advice..

It's just a type of wart virus isn't it? You probably both have it. Its not a nice thought but I wouldn't worry about it too much. If anything stress will make it worse, so the best treatment is to chill out and accept stuff happens.

Worrying is so natural- most people have HPV. One of the effects of HPV is warts. They’re not harmful but mostly just annoying but can be treated with freezing/cryotherapy or topical creams. I would look out for them. Good luck and do seek further advice from the sexual health clinic about next steps.
