Gyneacology and appointment

Can I please ask if anyone has had a questionnaire and nurse assessment for the appointment ??

When your having heady bleeds , pain with sex, soreness .

Why would one Ovary be bigger than the other ?

Would a retroverted uterus and PCOS stop me having children?

Going back to the appointment via the examination what other test do you think they may do ?

Getting a bit worried as the examination is painful in its self .

Any thoughts please share

🤔 The only experience I have of anything remotely similar...is when I was due to go for investigations because I’d had an early miscarriage, and was unable to become pregnant again afterwards.

As it turned out, I was actually pregnant by the time the appointment arrived. But the doctor kept referring to my previous abortion, which really upset me until I realised that was a medical term for early miscarriage.

I recall being told that my womb tilted backwards, but it didn’t seem to cause any particular concern. (Years later, after having two children, I found out I had adhesions around my ovaries. ) And I had blood taken.

It’s only natural to be anxious, there can’t be many women who don’t bat an eyelid when faced with an internal examination. And I empathise, not being able to relax myself. But, you will hopefully get an answer to whatever’s causing your symptoms 🙂

Thank you so much for all this information . I am getting in a state . If you have soreness before the appointment when you have the examination will it be more painful ? What do they do to find out what is causing the pain ?

🤔 I’m sure they’ll try to reassure you prior to an examination so that you’re as relaxed as possible. Perhaps mention beforehand that anticipation is making you especially tense, and it might be possible to have a light sedative, or gas and air.

But pain could be due any one of several causes, so it would be wrong to speculate at this stage.

There are various reasons as to why one ovary is bigger than the other, only investigations would give a definite answer.

Having PCOS does not mean you can't get pregnant. PCOS is one of the most common, but treatable, causes of infertility in women. In women with PCOS, the hormonal imbalance interferes with the growth and release of eggs from the ovaries (ovulation).1 Apr 2019
