Hi all, wondering whether I should be concerned. Im 49 years old and hadn’t had a period since the beginning of February until a couple of weeks ago. This one was heavy and lasted 10 days and after which I have had a small amount of brown blood for 4 days. Is this the start of the menopause maybe?

It is likely the beginning of menopause, but I would say it’s worth a trip to a doctor or nurse, just to be sure and put your mind at ease
Yup...have your doctor prescribe HRT for you (hormone replacement therapy).
Yes it definitely sounds like it. Erratic periods was my first sign I was starting it. If it becomes a problem ie night sweats, anxiety, depression etc. then I found HRT helped me a lot.
I always remember what a nurse told me - the change doesn't cause problems but it can make existing ones worse. I will say that once you get through the other side of it life is great! Make sure you use protection for at least 2 years though to avoid pregnancy. x
