I have had my own machine for a couple of years and, tbh, half of the time I have had it, I used it as a dumping ground for stuff. However, I do have mobility and health issues which make exercising and walking for more than 10 minutes almost impossible, so have resurrected it - so to speak - and this machine helps to keep my joints from stiffening up and I can use it without getting breathless. Be sure to follow the instructions carefully, if you intend buying one and there are plenty videos on-line to watch. Also, never - ever - lock your knees when standing on one! Don't be tempted to up the number of vibrations to high, either: if you jaw is wobbling and your teeth rattling it is doing more harm than good.
If you intend to use them in a gym etc., be sure the instructor is properly trained and does not try to push you too hard.
There has also been clinical research which showed that those using the machines regularly had less visceral fat than those who hadn't. As my waist was bigger than my hips, I thought it worth pursuing.
Hi, carbunkie, thank you for your reply, I currently run three times a week (well with work and kids permitting) and i was going to try and use the machine in between to tone up. I'm getting married in May and really need to shift some pounds. I used the machine last night for the first time, it is in a sunbed shop, so u know how it goes, there is no training offered, you just press the start button and off u go, you gotta laugh!!!!!!!!!!
Do go on line (YouTube) and find some good routines to use on it. I certainly feel better since I started using mine again, but I still wobble! I have a l-o-n-g way to go before I am anything like a "normal" weight.
