last year I lost over three stone and I was so happy but as soon as I came off the programme I started to put it all back on. I comfort eat when I'm depressed and suffering from Bipolar ll this can be most of the time. I lost my mum in July this year and that has just exacerbated the problem. I've told my self once her celebration of life party and her house is sold I will start the programme again. the sale of the house could be months away. What can I do now!!

Hi, I'm so sorry for your loss! I can't imagine what it's like to lose a parent, but grief in general is never easy and can consume us for unpredictable lengths of time. It would seem more than reasonable to focus on the practical matters that you need to deal with first of all. If you want to feel like you're taking better care of yourself, you could try to start some small habits. You might not lose weight with them, but they should make you feel better and prepare you for more involved changes down the line. Some small daily habits I'd suggest are drinking at least 1 litre of water, eating at least one fruit or vegetable, continuous movement for at least 10 minutes, writing a journal entry... You might think of more.Whatever you decide to do, please be kind to yourself. I hope to see you around here!

So sorry for your loss! Sometimes when I’m stressed it helps me to chew gum, preferably the sugar-free kind.

Zara0365 I’m sorry for your loss. In my experience of losing my parents the best advice I can give you is to be kind to yourself first. You’ve done the weight loss thing before so you can do it again. In the meantime we know being long term kind to ourselves, and short term actually, means fuelling our bodies with things that will make us feel better. Eat good food and go for walks (maybe lift weights if you can) . Maybe focus on feeling stronger and healthier first, then tackle the more restrictive stuff when your situational stress is resolved.

Hi Zara0365 and welcome to our weight loss support community. Sincere condolences for the loss of your Mum, it's early days and I'm sure that when you have tied up all the loose ends you will feel a little better. I'm afraid that I can't help you with your medical problem BP 11, I suggest that you consult your medical team and perhaps get the dose of your meds adjusted.

I strongly suggest that you join in with our Daily Diary where we share our meal plans, it's a great place for giving and receiving support. When you have decided how you're going to address your weight, do join in with our weekly weigh in.

You'll find both these posts and everything else we have to offer in our pinned posts, just click on the blue link below.

Sorry for your loss Zara0365. July really isn’t long ago so, as others have said, be kind to yourself, get through the things you have to do in the best way you can. You did great losing 3 stones last year and when you feel ready, you’ll know what you have to do - maintaining is hard for everyone. If you’re able to focus on food then make sure you’re eating enough of the good things and maybe plan in some treats, sweet or savoury -this might help alleviate the desire to comfort eat. Take care of yourself.
