Hello. I have struggled with being over weight for about 20 years. I have lost weight in the past but gain again after a while. I have had lots of support here before too.
I have now gotten into a really bad mind set where I eat very little but very sugary food. I will start with porridge for breakfast then mid morning I have a piece of cake (gluten free ) and then think better not have anything else today and I don’t eat lunch and probably not dinner either and end up having another sugary snack in the evening.
I know it’s wrong but every day I vow to eat proper meals but it doesn’t happen. I am now pre diabetic and I need to eat healthily I know what to do but am really struggling.
Has anyone tried hypnotherapy to get back on track and break out of bad habits?

Hi Lizzie. I haven’t tried hypnotherapy so can’t advise on that.
My suggestion would be to meticulously plan and prepare your meals a couple of days ahead and make it simple by batch cooking some of your favourites.
If you’re not sure what a balanced meal plan looks like now that you are pre diabetic , I think you should talk to a healthcare professional or dietitian.
You're not alone, lizziep, very few of us go on a steady path to healthy eating.
However, you now have a clear pathway forward. Diabetes is a disorder of carbohydrate metabolism so that's where you need to make the changes and the good news is, it's reversible.
Easier said than done, I know, especially this time of year when there are sweets and pastries and alcohol at every turn. You seem to know how you trip yourself up - not eating well during the day and then needing something 'unsuitable' in the evening. I would say, concentrate on getting your diet right rather than on losing weight - that will come, along with improved measures for your pre-diabetes.
You'll find loads of useful reading and viewing here. Apologies if this is old hat: it's always worth repeating healthunlocked.com/weight-l...
I agree with what the others have said about preparing batch meals ahead of time so the better choices are there when you need them. I do that all the time, now.
I've never tried hypnotherapy but there are a few good mindfulness meditations on YouTube and various podcasts. Maybe try some of those? (I checked out a LOT of them before I found some that were a good fit for me.)
I set an alarm on my phone to remind me it's time to listen to one.
I've not tried it for eating, but did try it for stopping smoking, it worked for a month for me but my son in law went to the same place I did and he's stopped smoking for a number of years now. I did give up myself in the end.
Have you ever tried intermittent fasting? I've lost almost 5 stone doing it, if your interested have a look on YouTube at Jason Fung videos, he explains it much better than I could do.
