Finally a place where I can diarise my thoughts!

Ok so today is officially Day 1. What finally kicked me into gear was an episode of 600lb life would you believe. I've been binge watching it for a few days now, but today's episode touched a nerve. The guy was walking on the beach with a huge smile on his face as he hasn't been able to do that in years. I'm no where near 600lb, but his motivation and commitment was so inspiring that I got off the couch and did side steps whilst watching the rest of the episode!

I then managed to take my kids around the block and did another 20 mins side stepping just now before plonking down with my laptop.

Also very happy that I portion controlled my lunch and dinner and amazed at how satisfied I feel! I can't believe how many things I noticed on my first day:

1)Eating with a fork is much harder than a spoon but the extra time duration helps in feeling satisfied sooner.

2)I loaded my fork with 50% salad than 25% protein, 25% carbs, that way I get a taste of everything but my tummy is getting fuller with the less calorie dense foods.

3)There's a moment between ravenously eating those first bites to finishing the meal, where your tummy breathes a sigh of relief and is content. I stopped eating at that point and just absorbed the moment. At that point you can literally stop eating and be satisfied. I had a little salad left so I finished it, but just listening to my body today has taught me so much about it. The last time I listened to my body like that, I was in labour!

4)Tea and biscuits are my biggest weakness. Today I waited till I had 10% of my tea left in my cup and then had only 1 biscuit, (usually I can easily have 3). I definitely did not crave any more after that which was incredible for me. Also breaking the biscuit in half is a cheeky way to think you've had two...

5)Water does help with hunger pangs big time!

I'm buzzing now just writing all this down. This time feels so different to all other weight loss attempts. I feel excited!

Love the tips . The tea one and your clever strategy of the biscuit trick . We learn through habit . I thought as a 20 something- oh great I have kicked 10 years of smoking but I could never avoid those biscuits and crackers-and why should I have a life where I ate none or banned everything that comforted me but I was the boss . I love your honesty. I don’t totally say no to anything but I simply don’t eat as much .

I don't believe in cold turkey as I feel it's just not sustainable. Well done you for kicking smoking, as that could not have been easy! What's been harder for you, giving up smoking or the weight loss? Yes 100% agree, everything in moderation is key!

The smoking was 200% easier . I was pregnant and my partner didn’t smoke so I just threw them away . Eating properly and keeping the weight off is difficult, so difficult as it’s constant .

Hang in there! You sound amazingly strong, how far are you off your target? How old is your little one now? I love talking kids as I have two little terrors myself :)

My little one is 37 and I went on to have 4 more boys. I originally lost 18kg on Jan 2018 so down to 62.5kg but I am only 5ft 1 . A 17 month wait for gall bladder surgery which I had on 11 Jan - started back at work this Monday but over time between Aug 22 and now I was dealing with pain whilst awaiting treatment so put on 6kg . Just want to get rid of this but it isn’t easy .

sounds like a great first day. Wishing you all the best on this journey. It’s taken me a long time to realise how much of our eating habits are just engrained. Look forward to hearing more of your successes x
