Hello my new friends

I got here and almost immediately found out I was eating way too little and that eating more healthy things and eliminating the unhealthy things is actually the key to successfully steadily losing weight. Eating more calories than I was, not less! I had no idea. I thought I was going to have to ...well... be starving all the time. So that was an amazing thing to find out. Thank you to the posters who helped me with this, I am eternally grateful. If you guys had just let it go instead of pointing out to me that I was using the wrong site to find out my suggested cal intake to lose 1-2 pounds a week, I would have still been eating little over 1100. THAT is why this site is so marvellous. You take note. You step in. You help. You little beauties.

Then I came out. Hurrah! People were wonderful. It went better than I anticipated. I actually had tears in my eyes at one response it was so beautiful.

Then I started to post in daily diaries and what a difference this has made. Being accountable is so important to me. I ate tonight and didn't feel deprived after at all. I felt, dare I say, satisfied. This is a brilliant discovery. If I can lose at 1700 cals a day then i can do this. In a year, too. whoop whoop!

Now I read a lot on here. It helps me. I don't feel alone. I don't feel hopeless. I do feel excited and I do feel like I am in a winning team.

Thank you so much

Bobette :-)

What a fabulous post!! You sound like you're finding what works for you, I wouldn't have been able to change my old habits without my wonderful forum friends and I would still be eating low fat stuff, I eat full fat and still lose weight!!!! How crazy is that😂😂 here's to the downward journey😊😊

Hi bobette22, what a lovely positive post, it's great that you are finding out so much about what works for you and feeling so positive.

I have made some amazing friends on this forum and find everyone so supportive and non-judgemental.

I only read your coming out post last night and thought it was lovely that you felt able to share that with us. I thought it was a very brave post, but also found it sad that you felt that anyone would judge you or that you wouldn't be welcome.

I look forward to seeing you in other posts, take care and have a good week. 😊

Oh, in the real world, you can't imagine what we have to face and deal with every day. It IS sad but it's there. This site is extraordinary. Life should be moderated too! xx

Hi babette22 . I love this post. I too had some wonderful person point me in the direction of eating more to lose weight and never looked back.

That and breaking my snacking habit really worked for me and it looks like you've found the thing that works for you too.

Here's to your continued success with the continued support & friendship of this group.

How refreshing to read . Food is so complex . I started off too with guidance from free app on MyFitnessPal which is great for scanning items and a general cal/macro count but it calculated my daily cal intake rather low . After a good rant on here that I was hungry and shedding ' nowt ' I upped my cals from 1400 to 1600 which made a difference to a decent main meal although I basically do 400 , 400 , 600 with 3 meals a day but it allows for the odd pick me up latte or that - hmm shall I have it bag of Lentil Curls or a piece of fruit especially after a walk . Your story is very similar to mine . Starving doesn't work .

I love my food ..toooo much so to actually be told to eat a bit more and lose a few pounds really made me feel better . Hate ditching the lattes .

It has made me feel so much better too. To eat more healthy stuff to lose weight...well I love eating its a passion of mine, so this is definitely good news. Trouble with me is I love things that are bad for you and it has become time to pull the reins in a bit. Or a lot!

Yes, forget the ammount of calories and concentrate on the types of calories. I've never even looked at how many calories are in foods and my BMI is now between 21 and 22. LCHF rules!

Hi bobette22 you are absolutely right too few calories and our bodies hold onto everything. Also it is simply not sustainable because hunger takes over and then you want to eat your own leg right?🤣 Sounds like you have found your own way and now it’s just about staying on the path. Some days it seems simple and others are more challenging. I guess it’s a journey with no destination because when we arrive we want to stay there but are often tempted to do a return trip. 😊 You will crack this and be well nourished along the way good luck.

Another thing I am really pleased about is that I can look forward to being slim again, as I was. I have got a wardrobe full - well ok, not quite full- of women's clothes in a size 12 I am so looking forward to wearing. lol I WILL wear them next year. I will do it. I AM doing it!
