I realised that I put on 10KG over a period of 8 weeks. I realised I had a terrible upset and was consoling myself with food. Today I am making a solemn oath before you all that if I am ever emotional or upset I will go for a walk or exercise. When I eat in this way I am igniting a days, weeks and months of misery.

That’s a great idea (walking/exercising before emotional eating). I’m not an emotional eater but getting out for a walk/exercising always makes me feel better - it’s just doing it 😀. I hope you are over your terrible experience, or it is at least fading for you and your plans work out.
Sorry to hear you’ve been having a tough time. It is good to see you’ve identified other and more healthier ways to cope during times of stress. It’s easy to head for the fridge or food cupboards as they’re in reach in an instant but heading for your walking shoes instead and heading out the door before you’ve had chance to grab something to eat, going for a nice long walk and breathing in all the lovely fresh air will do you the world of good. It’s well publicised that exercise is really good for your mental health and well-being so I’m sure that once you get going with your new distraction, you’ll soon start to feel the health benefits. It’s early days, but I have done a lot of walking yesterday almost 20,000 steps
