I was thinking just the other day, as I was thinking about my meals, that the days seem to merge into one another. Maybe it is the Covid effect, maybe it is the healthy living effect, maybe it is the, “where is my daily walk going to take me today?” effect. I just know that the routine has a habit of hitting you each day, and at the end of week when you jump on the scales, OK step carefully onto the scales, you are a little disheartened to find you have not moved much; or stayed static for another week.
When you look back you can see all the good progress you have made over the last months, but these last few days do not seem to have made much of a difference. For this reason, I wanted more of an up-beat song, reflecting my own, personal mood. “Big wheel keep on turning, Proud Mary keep on burning, And we're rolling, tell you rolling, we're rolling on the river.”
My granny lived until she was 99 years old, and her name was Mary, so this one is especially for her. In her nursing home toward the end of her life, a few years ago now, her hearing was not too good, and her patience was a little frayed at times. The carer used to come in on the afternoon and offer her the afternoon cup of tea and say, “Would like a piece of cake too Mary?” Granny would often bark back at her, “No.”
With being from the North East you had to get used to the abruptness of speech, she never meant any harm from it, but when the lady was still outside the room when my granny would ask, “Does she want me to get fat?” Between you and I, at the age of 99 I do not think a little bit of extra weight would have made much of difference, she was not overweight by any means, but granny was granny.
May your big wheels keep on turning for you this week, whatever your plans. I am glad granny Mary was not around for Covid, she would not of understood the process.

I left a good job in the city
Working for the man every night and day
And I never lost one minute of sleeping
I was worrying 'bout the way the things might've been
…
You know that big wheel keep on turning
Proud Mary keep on burning
And we're rolling, rolling, rolling yeah
Rolling on the river (the river)
…
Cleaned a lot of plates in Memphis
Pumped a lot of tane down in New Orleans
But I never saw the good side of the city
Until I hitched a ride on a riverboat queen
…
You know that big wheel keep on turning
Proud Mary keep on burning
And we're rolling, rolling, rolling yeah (rolling)
Rolling on the river
…
Say we're rolling (rolling) rolling yeah
Rolling on the river
The river
…

Worrying about the way the things might've been

Proud Mary keep on burning
Rolling, rolling, rolling on the river

If you come down to the river
I bet you gonna find some people who live
And you don't have to worry if you got no money
People on the river are happy to give

Big wheel keep on turning
Proud Mary keep on burning
And we're rolling, tell you rolling, we're rolling on the river
Tell you we have no time (rolling, rolling, rolling on the river)
(Rolling, rolling, rolling on the river)
Rolling, rolling, rolling on the river)
Tell you we're rolling, rolling, rolling on the river
I tell you we're rolling, rolling, rolling on the river)
