Portion sizes, I’m so used to large meals

I’ve been doing the 30 plants challenge which required me to eat smaller portions of more foods, so I could get all 30 plants in(still at 28!), rather than a huge portion of one or two foods. I realized that I’ve been using intermittent fasting, with 2 meals a day (skipping breakfast) as a way to get two larger meals rather than 3 relatively smaller ones for the same calories. I like to wait until I’m really hungry before I eat, it’s so much more pleasurable to eat when you’re super hungry! Of course that encourages overeating if you’re not careful!

Well trying to fit in 30 different plants, I’ve started eating a small late breakfast, then a smaller than usual late lunch (instead of one large lunch). I’m not eating more than I did before, just the variety of foods that I’m trying to eat to hit my challenge of 30 plants in a week require a different collection of prepared meals. If I liked salads, which I don’t, I could’ve prob fit all 30 plant foods into a few salads! Instead I’ve been adding lots of fruits and nuts and seeds to my yogurt, and more veggies to my side dishes and main dishes.

Not sure what I’m trying to say 😊 just that maybe eating 3 smaller meals rather than 2 larger ones, and eating before I’m super hungry, might be an answer for me. I’ve lost 2 pounds since the beginning of the week!

Sounds like it's working for you :) I haven't reached my 30 yet but I will have by the end of the day. I do like salads but not in winter: in fact, there are a couple of little gem lettuce looking at me from the fridge and they're going to end up in a broccoli and cheese soup.

Join the Challenge again next week and set yourself an extra target, maybe making a greater proportion of them veg, or something else you think would be worth doing.

Lytham , here's a good result :)

How brilliant is that 💖 You made an observation based on changes you've made and are willing to keep with it. Sometimes you do just have to try something to see if it works for you.

At the start of my journey i made a conscious decision to have a smaller breakfast and lunch with a large tea as my biggest bad habit was constant munching on an evening. Its very rare, i think i can count the occasions on one hand, that i've had an evening snack of mushrooms or nuts. I sometimes think it would be interesting experiment to see how long i can go without food before eating because i'm hungry. I'm still not convinced i know what that feels like lol.

Well done 🌟 xx
