I often wonder how much I DID weigh at my heaviest? πŸ¦›

I know that in 2013 I wouldn't have photos taken or go near the scales!! 😱 And that, when my lovely little Grandson had his naming day, I had cut back a lot and lost 'some' .... But don't know how much because no scales or photos were allowed!!

On the naming day, there were many happy, (if shocking) photos, but still no scales!!

I now wish I had been braver!! Because I can only guess at it. The first time I braved the scales, it was a shade over 15st, but guessing it had been a stone or so more before I bit the bullet to climb on 'em!

Now, I get frustrated at my weight being about 3st from healthy, and it taking me so long AND it going up and down again. BUT I have my old photos to remind me that I am still good 4-5 st lighter than I was back then. It is just time to try to push a bit further towards the finish line.

I would strongly advise anyone starting out today, feeling at their heaviest and not wanting to see or know the facts, until they feel better, to get it done! Get an honest photo and get on them scales now!!! You don't have to tell or show anyone!! This is purely for the future you!!

DON'T GIVE UP! XXXXX

That’s basically how I started. With a simple question: β€˜who am I kidding?’ Which led me to making two commitments to myself: record all the food I’m eating, even if I end up eating massive amounts (because if I don’t record it on a day like that - who am I kidding?) and to weigh myself every Monday even if I happen to have a full week of poor choices (again - who am I kidding if I don’t step on the scales after eating too much).

All the very best to you!

So right! Coming on here and getting praise after a good week feels wonderful! BUT it is the support and understanding on a BAD week that makes the difference! Even if you don't come on and tell people, it is still important to do it to be honest with yourself, I totally agree. πŸ‘πŸŒˆ

Good advice for anyone new. I really know what you mean and there are a few photos of me around my fattest but I was avoiding the scales in those days. So it's too late for me really because I have no plans to go back to those days. But it would have been good to have the numbers for what I've achieved.

Exactly! I LOVE before and after photos! And have a few ready for when I hit target. πŸ€πŸ˜‚ But know there were times when I could have had something more to keep to compare it to. I think though, until you hit the place where you are determined to lose it and WANT these records to keep, you avoid it. Without Rhys's naming day celebrations, I would not have had a photo taken until much later down the line. πŸ™„πŸŒˆ

Hi Vale57, I did weight myself at my heaviest, 16st 12lbs, my weight has been up and down over the years. You are right when you say you have to just get it done and at least be honest with yourself. I still have a couple of stone to go and I am trying to keep the momentum going, which isn't easy. Good luck with your weight loss journey : )

Good that you can see how far you have come, and are doing so well!! It is frustrating to struggle with a couple of stones to go!! But it is the last push, no going back to the bad weight!! We beat that! We just need be proud of what we achieved so far and push on for the ultimate goal, no matter how long it takes!! XX

Yes , I agree. How have you lost the weight, as in what regime/plan are you following?

Great post. You are doing brilliantly. Keep up the good work xx

Even if you don’t like the numbers on the scales you need to know what they are so that you can be accountable to yourself. I hate seeing pictures of myself but I have just started out on a diabetes prevention program so I’m having a bit of a reboot (hence the slight name change) and as part of my own accountability measures I’m taking a β€˜start’ picture. I want to see how I’ve changed when I get to the end of the 9 month program.

I took start pictures at 14st 2lb (which I put as my start weigh on here) But know the real truth was around 2st more than that, but it was some time ago and not measured.

Nice to hear from you again Jubbly! and good luck with your 9 month program! xxxxx 🌈

Well done on your weight loss so far, I love your post it’s so thought provoking. I didn’t take a photo at the start of dieting either, I didn’t weigh myself until a couple of weeks after starting a diet too. I think I was scared, I still am a little. I do love seeing everyone’s progress, the before and after pictures are so inspirational, and sometimes I wish I had taken a before photo and sometimes I am glad I didn’t. I think I can just about stand on the scales with out panicking now. Fortunately everything is moving in the right direction, downwards! 😁 Good luck with your journey.

Very well done on the downward journey Flo-jo!! Once you are was convinced you are going to change things, You lose the fear of the planned camera shots or scales.... because no one else has to see them if you don't want to show them ... they are for you! Carry on doing what you are doing, sounds to work for you, XX πŸ‘πŸŒˆ
