Struggling with self-isolation and eating

Hi,

I started the lockdown in March with 112 k, today I have just weighed and I got to 118.30 k. I am 160 cm tall and 63 years old. Apart from mild asthma and a painful back (obesity-related problem), I don't have any other important health issue which would prevent me from losing weight. I have struggled with my weight all my life, but I have never reached this mark before. It's just muy husband and I at home. He doesn't have any issues with weight or food intake. In fact, he loves eating all kinds of fatty and high in carbohydrates food, accompanied by wine or beer. The fact that we have been sharing every single meal since lockdown, as well as the two of us working from home, has been terribly damaging. Over these months, when I have not been working on my computer, I have been in the kitchen cooking and baking. I have been literally eating all the frustration and anguish that Covid 19 brought about. Our working situation will not change in the immediate future. We will continue working from home so I need to put the brakes on the current situation. My husband and I had a long conversation last night. Both agreed that we will cook separately and we will be sharing only when we coincide on the same kind of food.

Although I know what I have to do and what is convenient for me, I still need, ideas, recipes and help from people who are on the same journey.

Thank you very much in advance for your support.

Welcome to this amazing forum. I suggest you spend some time clicking about to find your way around. It's easier if you have a lap-top as there are several threads. If you’re using another device I strongly suggest that you use the web page as opposed to the app at least until you know your way around.

Have a good read of the pinned post “Welcome Newbies” and follow every thread.

Here’s the link to the pinned posts, healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

Here’s the link for the “Tour” of the forum. If you haven’t already taken it.

Many people have had weight problems due to lockdown. You are not alone

I strongly suggest you read and contribute to the Daily Diary and participate in a Weekly Weigh in.

You will find there's loads of tips about better eating, from other members. Sharing your daily menu not only helps you stay committed, it can help other members too.

Good luck I hope to "see " you around. xx

Many thanks for your words, TheTabbyCat. Yes. I am a bit lost with so much information but I have managed to design today's plan and joined the Sunday Weekly Weigh in.

Well done for finding the Sunday weigh in. That's a good place to begin.

If you have a mo later on have a look at "Events" in the pinned posts join the Daily Diary. Sunday's will be running until 9.00pm gmt. This evening, tomorrow's opens. I find it really useful for making a commitment.

If you can't find anything, just shout! There's usually someone about.😉

Hi and welcome, Bluna1 :)

It really isn't necessary to cook separately, this is a healthy eating plan that's good for everyone healthunlocked.com/api/redi...

I would just suggest eating fewer carbs than your husband, holding back on the baking and the beer and limit your alcohol intake to a couple of glasses of wine a week :)

Many thanks for the tips, moreless. We will be having the same lunch (different dinner) today. I find the link to the healthy eating plan very useful. I am planning to print it and keep it at hand.

I was just going to suggest exactly that moreless! I also need to watch my portions, and aim to eat around half what my fit, active and slim husband eats 😊
