Hi MJ

I recently turned 41 and was so mad at myself as I said when I was 40 I would really get a handle on my physical fitness and curb my bad habits. I didn't do this and am determined to do this now, before I am 42!

Every journey starts with a single step and you have done that by joining this forum. I've only been doing this for 3 weeks but I have found it really helpful doing the daily diary and the weekly weigh ins. People are really supportive and have some great ideas. I encourage you to give it a try!

Well done on posting x

I know how you feel. I'm 26 and half stone and don't think it's fully hit me yet. I have moments where I'll see my reflection or simply look down at my legs and I'm like HOLY SHIT ('cuse the language). I turned 28 recently and feel like I have wasted the past 8 years of my life so I'm trying to make changes now, but I'm struggling mentally with thoughts like "I'll just be like this forever", "this is so hard it's basically impossible", "what's the point I've wasted so much time already". It sure is hard but it's possible if you want it enough, and have the support around you, which you do have here :)

Hi Fittea, I scrapped my reply to you the other day after I realised you said you were veggie and lactose intolerant so everything I’d written was unsuitable for you - but today I’ve just replied to MJ above about Dr Robert Lustig videos, and I think you would also get a great deal of benefit and motivation from looking at them too. Best wishes.

Hi MJ, when I first joined this forum, someone pointed me in the direction of Dr Robert Lustig’s videos, available on YouTube, called “The Skinny on Obesity”. They are only fairly short, and episode 3 was particularly useful to me to explain why I was overweight and why I had trouble losing it. It was a complete eye opener to me and has changed the way I think about food and turned my life around. It costs nothing to watch, but may just be the incentive and motivation for you to make changes too. Good luck.
