We managed a second walk this week! Beautiful day, Just like spring! A place we have been many times! Anglers country park at Winterset. not far from Wakefield.
It has a lake with the 'Room on the broom' trail for the little ones. They pick up a discovery bag at the centre and have to find the carvings and posts with rubbings and answer questions etc, it is a brilliant way to get them to walk the full way round the lake! They also have nice play ground next to a newly refurbished cafe.
As with most of the reserves in our area, it was created from what was an old drift mine. So this place was not new to us, but instead of walking the lake, we took a walk into Crofton via a walking map from REALLY nice visitors centre. It was good, but one stretch was quite long through fields and the mud was unbelievable!! My little legs were shattered by the time we reached dry land again! I bet it is a nice walk in the summer months. It is just a bit worrying that there is a warning that one of the field may contain a bull! π²
Todays new coffee place was the first one in the newly remodeled cafe there. We had one before we set off, sat and read the map. but non after that til we got home. It said it was 2.5 miles, but felt MUCH longer ... maybe it was the mud! It clocked up about 14,000 steps anyway, so not bad going.
I am hoping to go out again next Tuesday, but work alternate Thursdays, so Tuesday will be my only chance next week. Lets hope for reasonable weather. π€
