Should I start now?
I think there's no time like the present and that you should not think about dieting.
What you want is a healthy and sustainable way of living
Well ... you know what they say: never do today what you can put off until tomorrow
If you're feeling like this, I'd approach it in stages rather than try to do everything all at once on the "day I'm seriously dieting". And in any case, don't think in terms of "dieting" - you're looking to make a permanent lifestyle change here. Moving heaven and earth to shift half a stone, only to put it back on again when you go back to "eating normally", is worse than pointless.
If you're drastically overweight, I would recommend NOT going to the gym to begin with. Some feel embarrassed to be around lots of fit people, and that just ruins the whole experience. Some people dive into it and end up hurting themselves. Lose some weight first - by getting your eating habits right - and then you can think about exercising.
First tip: go through your cupboards and throw out (or give away) all the crisps, biscuits, sweets, breakfast cereals (yes, really - they're just candy in a different box), white bread, pot noodles, and anything with "low fat" written on the packet. Come to think of it ... treat anything that comes in any sort of packet with suspicion. You'll most likely end up throwing away 50%+ of what's there. Then, make a commitment to cook proper food from now on, using only fresh ingredients (meat, veg, eggs and dairy). Just that in itself will get you halfway to your goal.
Thank you so much! I do actually go to the gym a lot I do all the classes but not the healthy eating! So I'm a fat fit person if you get me! I've had really bad depression (things going on In my life) so just wanted to get out the house plus it does help me mentally, I know your gonna be annoyed but I have bought the shakes then a healthy meal at tea I've paid for it so need to use it
Ah, OK, understand. If you enjoy the gym then there's no reason to stop doing it!
By all means use stuff up if you've bought it. But shakes and whatnot won't get you to the place you want to be - with a few exceptions, most of them are full of stuff that's guaranteed to make you fat, thereby making you think you'll be forever dependent on them. Ka-ching! for the manufacturer.
Anyway, if you can commit to making proper meals for yourself from now on, you'll be fine. I would just add this: weighing yourself has no purpose except to tell you whether your meals are actually healthy (there's waaaay too much blather written about what's "healthy" and what isn't, and 90% of it is pure made-up nonsense). If you find that you're not losing weight, it's because your meals are wrong in their content (not the amount). Healthy bodies getting healthy nutrition just don't remain fat.
In addition to all the good advice youhave had already, may I suggest you look up Robert H Lustig on youtube. Good clear explanation of body weight balance.
