I may have the World's oldest umbilical hernia at 19 years of age. I've been through the difficult teens with it and decided it was time to let it go it's own way before it's 20th birthday.
The NHS and the Surgeons work to rule over their pension funds being limited to 1.1 million pounds have done everything they possibly can this year to stop me getting rid before it turns 20.
After an 11 month wait for the operation I finally went in Thursday, to wait 4 hours on a ward, to hear a phone conversation. Ive got two hernia operations we can take them off the list.....2 minutes later I was being told I could sling my hook. A lack of beds apparently....But as I had my sizeable posterior sat on one for the past 4 hours a rather double take moment for me. No point in shooting the messenger the poor nurse as trappy on the phone who had just bumped my Operation had given her the dirty work.
So the upshot is I have another 18 days before my rescheduled appointment. Weighing in at 21 stone 4lb currently is way up there for me. So I've decided to take this opportunity to try and ditch a stone by the 20th December. Just to make it a bit easier for the Surgeons scalpel.
I thought by coming on here might keep me on the straight and narrow. As I have had my DNA analysed and have definately got the OH XXXX IT Gene. Usually it kicks in at about 8.30pm when I open a bottle of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc......but that's a whole different forum.....and I'm not quite ready to sit in a Church Hall in a circle on an Orange Formica chair yet and say Hello my name is Peter.
