Happy birthday sunblast and welcome.
I am sure there are others on here that will be able to give you good tips on reducing stress eating in particular. Rather than stress as such, I tend more to snack when I’m bored or if I feel I “deserve” it (which is sometimes after a stressful day). I have reduced this by planning my meals so I don’t get hungry, cutting back on carbs which tend to send me onto a sugar eating frenzy and logging my food (I use the Fitbit app) to keep me accountable. Maybe these will help you too? I haven’t really got round to it, but there is loads of strong evidence that mindfulness/ mindfulness based stress reduction are brilliant.
Good luck and hope to see you around the forum 😊
Hi, sunblast , welcome.
Weight loss is not all about motivation and masochism - if you "slim smart" it is not so hard!
Many of us here find that what works is a combination of The Low Carbohydrate, High-Fat (LCHF) diet (see the forum here on Health Unlocked) and Not Snacking All Day AKA Intermittent Fasting (IF). See:
Hi sunblast, happy birthday, and wish you all the best with your very good resolution. I can echo your issue, as stress, getting something wrong in my work (even though I am freelance and work from home), sends me straight to fridge or larder. Usually.
I had lost 8lbs in 8 weeks on this Forum (thanks all!), but the snacking and chocolate consumption had crept up and I have put on 3-4lbs in six weeks.
Can I recommend you start the NoSnackNovember challenge on the forum? I have already lost 1-2lbs after 3 days. As winter approaches, I said I could eat carbs and have good meals, and even something at tea-time, but NO snacks in between, no TV snacks. Coffee with cream. It's a liberation!
Whatever route you take, all the best.
Life gets in the way of determination to diet. Focus gets lost and comfort or boredom eating sets in. It's so difficult isn't it? Good luck with it.
