Hi I’m starting today. I’m not very good at sticking to diets so I’m trying to think of this as a healthy eating plan instead. I’ve just seen myself in a mirror in a shop and look huge. So downloaded week 1 adjusted Fitbit & MyFitnessPal so am ready to start . I thought by posting it might make me more accountable.

I think that's the key to sustainable weight loss. Healthy eating is much easier to stick with than dieting. Accountability is good too.

Hello and welcome to the Weight Loss Forum Humbugthecat 😊

Wise decision to stop all thoughts of diet and focus instead on being healthy, Be slightly cautious regarding the calorie target MFP suggests, we advise using the NHS BMI checker which will suggest a target calorie range. Also try to eat proper food, from all food groups, including fat and protein, eating fat doesn’t make you fat, it keeps you full for longer as well as adding flavour and essential nutrients 😊

Good luck Humbugthecat,

I used to say that about looking in the mirror all the time and we have mirrors in the lifts at work .

Have a great weekend.

Good luck with your healthy eating diet. The meaning of healthy eating is different for everyone here. Some people believe that cutting down on carbs and increasing saturated fats is healthy and others that wholemeal carbs and HDL fats in moderation is healthy. I Used MyFitnessPal, along with the nhs 12 week plan which encourages all food groups in moderation but which for me was a lower LDL fat diet (as in fat on meat/enormous chunks of hard cheeses) This worked for me. Good luck!

Welcome Humbugthecat :)

As part of the plan, you will have noticed that it points you towards the NHS BMI calculator which will provide you with a more accurate and sensible calorie range to keep to. Mfp can be restrictively low and the 12 week plan isn't about being mean to ourselves (a reason that most people fall by the wayside) but creating a pleasant, sensible journey that we can enjoy and sustain.

Joining in the Daily Diary and committing daily will likely make you feel even more accountable :)

Good luck!
