I have been trying to lose weight for as long as I can remember. I have gained 7 kg in the past three years and found it extremely difficult to lose weight mainly because I have had injuries at different times during the past three which prevented me from going to the gym as much. I even had a personal trainer, used myfitnesspal and all but I felt like there was no point since I physically could not do much. Now I am healed to about 87% but since I have had so many injuries, I am afraid to go back to the gym. And when it comes to my diet, I thought I knew what I was doing but being a university student made it very difficult to eat healthy and study for long hours. I have lost all motivation and will power, but I know I should change that. Anyone who was in my position at some point, what did you do to get over it and finally start your health journey and stay on track?

Need motivation to lose weight
Welcome ruchi_l
Sorry to hear about your struggles with injuries. However, the good news is that exercise is likely to be less than 20% of any weight loss and there are forum members here that are unable to exercise at all and yet lose weight.
Exercise is good for overall health but most weight loss will come from eating well.
An administrator will reply shortly with information on how to get the most from this forum.
Good luck!
Hi and welcome, ruchi_l
Some of the ideas we have of healthy eating have been turned around in recent years, so you may like to have a look at this phcuk.org/wp-content/upload...
With some forward planning, you'll be able to eat healthily and on a budget. I advise looking at our daily diary for guidance.
Whilst exercise is great for mind, body and soul and can help to maintain weight, it's not to be relied on for weight loss. Far better to get your diet in order first.
Follow this link to our chat thread and a list of all the activities we run. We've found active participation to be key to success, especially with our weigh-ins and Daily Diary.

Wishing you all the best
Hi Ruchi_l, I have had several lower limb injuries and bad arthritis in knees, and I am not 60 yet. I feel for you, exercise makes us feel so good. Do what you can, start small, the diet is the main thing and then do as much movement as safely possible. It IS worth it, waking up feeling better about yourself and wearing your fave clothes again - it is! All the best.
Hi, ruchi_l , welcome.
Losing weight is not all about masochism and motivation - if you eat a good diet, including plenty of fat, you will not feel hungry and "need" to snack.
Set yourself a time in the evening after which you do not eat.
Not snacking all day, aka (Intermittent) Fasting stimulates the metabolism and helps you lose weight, see:
