An interesting discovery: Regular jogging blunts the genetic effects on BMI

Hi,

I found a great new study on plos.org on obesity and genetics. It says that even if you are predisposed to obesity (in other words have "bad genes") regular jogging can help you keep your weight under control. Mountain climbing, walking, exercise walking, international standard dancing, and a longer practice of yoga have a similar effect on your BMI.

Even more importantly, cycling, aerobic exercise, swimming and dancing "were not found to modify the genetic effects on any obesity measure".

Good to know :)

Getting fit and building muscle makes BMI tell you that you are too fat!

I am glad they took some useful measurements - and not just BMI:
