Thanks. There was one in the opposite “space” behind too which made getting out of the car park lots of fun.

So we have royalty or an illiterate drivers meeting... or maybe something else!

It was right at the end of a trail run, that I obviously hadn’t measured perfectly as I planned to be done and walk up them... you’re right though, felt great to be up them. Then ran the wrong way on the canal tow path to finish before turning to walk back to my car.

I thought I’d taken a picture of another heron... then I noticed that it hadn’t moved in the few minutes I’d been there... was still in the same position the day after... best heron model I’ve ever seen, unless it was a piece of taxidermy
