How to eat well
Hi, not sure what you have seen, but yes, me too. I have been very surprised to learn about the impact of high carbs. I had no idea. I thought I was eating “healthily”- couldn’t understand why my weight just kept going up and up! — very happy now on a low carb diet 😊
You and many more of us Cosmo. I used to cal count and was proud of myself that I lost all my excess weight. I carried on eating crumbles etc. and didn't realise just how self defeating it all was and yes I stuck most of it back on.
Congrats on your weight loss to date.
Thank you 😊 and you’ve had a great weight loss too!
Not sure what you saw but on the same theme, I'll link something that admins often provide for nearly every newbie... phcuk.org/wp-content/upload...
Perhaps it's a bit heavy to read to start with but my impression is that few ever read it, which strikes me as a shame because people come here in such a desperate state.
Thanks for sharing, I found this really useful
You're welcome. It's quite an eye opener.
The more I read about carbs, the scarier they are. Of course we need them but our overindulgence of them coupled with our eating of processed food appear to be the root of many of today's prolific illnesses.
You might like to keep an eye out for other admin replies. BridgeGirl has links to some great videos which explain much of the mechanisms of staying low on carbs.
Hi, Dani, you might find these interesting, too. The second one is one of a series, The Skinny on Obesity, which you can find on YouTube: all short and very watchable so it's worthwhile viewing them all. You'll also get great information from the dietdoctor website
Ahhh I also like jacket potato and thought of this as a healthy dieting choice! I guess there’s lots to learn and lots of de-programming to do. Thanks for sharing.
I’ve done the SlimmingWorld and I guess this is why it doesn’t work... carb heavy. I’ve done many diets and whilst I’ve lost weight I then eventually put it back on but some of those mantras have stuck in my head and I guess I need to let them go and start afresh because if they had really worked I wouldn’t be where I am now...
I watched the BBC programme The Truth About Carbs. The big shock was that there are the eqiuvalent of 25 sugar cubes in a bowl of rice. On reflection I remembered reading that Japanese Sumo wrestlers -those huge blokes who wear only a loin cloth when fighting - eat mostly rice and are famous for suffering from diabetes.
