more gym, less gin....

Hi there, I'm new (obviously) and really keen to lose about a stone in weight. Always been quite fit but the last year I've let things slide.

Quit smoking last October and joined a gym today. So now it's all about exercise and eating properly.... oh and a lot less beer!

All tips greatly appreciated

Cheers

Nate

Hi Celtic Nate, welcome to the Forum. 'Less gin...' I can echo that. A few weeks of Doritos in the car (help with carsickness on mountain roads), plus 2-3 G&Ts at weekend, and I had put on 4lbs, still trying to shake that off four weeks later. So now I save the G&T for TGIF happy hour....better. Good luck with your goals!

Yeah, it's so easily done isn't it... And the creeps up and you don't notice.

I think I struggle in the evening. Its too tempting to pop to the pub for a good natter and a pint, or pick up a bottle of vino on the way home

Today I have some grapefruit juice and celery... I hate celery 🤣🤣🤣

Sounds like you're going from the sublime to the meticulous :) Must be something in between that will be yummier than that! Do you find that hot weather makes you less happy to drink? Here in Spain, we are happily glugging homemade iced tea, even with meals, as alchohol just makes us sleepier. Hope you can find some good alternatives...

Oooh, iced tea sounds great idea! I'm chugging water and lime... Any ideas greatly appreciated

It's so easy CelticNate, I just make a pot of tea, let it brew longer after I have a cup from it, add water to thin it a bit, then pour over ice and lemon all day!
