Chocolate and gin!

Help - after an Easter full of bad things (see title - I am not even that keen on chocolate) - I have to do something about the flab! So to avoid buying an entirely new wardrobe for summer, I need to lose a stone. Sigh. I also need to feel a tad more healthy and relaxed. So not much to aim for then! I'll start with losing the weight ... world peace, I will deal with once my abdominal fat stays in the bounds of my waistband!!

Positive thinking and support needed please.

Hi and welcome, Jules :)

Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you.

Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news.

Take a look at the 12 week plan, as a lot of people have been successful with it, making sure to enter your details into the BMI calculator, to get a calorie allowance tailored to your personal requirements. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate.

We run daily weigh-in's and you'd be very welcome to join us. The threads can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the home page, bottom on a mobile.

Be advised, that the HU app doesn't give you access to all of our important features, so we advise that you use the full website page.

We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too.

It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey :)

I'm exactly the same! Did toy with the idea of going to matalan to get whole new wardrobe...then decided to sort myself out instead. I have 2 st to loose. I'm on day two and determined (early days!)

Hi rubybluecar

Thanks for replying 😊.

Day one for me and so still determined! I am on Easter holiday so those chocolate eggs are still looking at me - saying eat me!! I haven't given in as it's my sons birthday so hoping to save some calories for a small piece of cake!

I really don't want to be the chubby one at work - I work with lots of skinny people who really love running (I don't I'm afraid, it hurts my knees too much apart from the fact that I just plain don't enjoy it) and cycling. I am trying the twelve week NHS thingy. I will use 'my fitness pal' app to log what I eat. What are you doing?

Ha! I fear the same fate at work too! I don't want to be known as a biscuit munching teacher! Know what you mean about skinny colleagues- I try to tell myself that they're young and yet to have children....oh no! I sound like MY mum.

I teach as well and so know the destressing value of biscuits!! Staffrooms are a dreadful place! I am currently on my dad's exercise bike watching Pride and prejudice. Not the same without Colin Firth but eye candy will get me through the cycling - aiming to do at least 30 mins 5 times a week (until the marking gets in the way again). Pah unlikely to manage to keep up 5 sessions! Have tried any of the NHS exercise videos - I might try the strength ones, could do with getting rid of my bat wings.....

I find it's the de-stressing ( or should that be distressing) vodka I need after marking along with the sudden urge to comfort eat like a fool that ruins me. So much pressure at work!

Agree Colin firth is the MAN. Oh yes...
