Id like to fit comfortably into a size 14 so plan to lose a stone. I plan to give up sugar for May and walk more so hopefully this will take a few pounds off.

Welcome in the forum. I like your name 😃
BridgeGirl sent you the newbie info.
To cut sugar sounds a good idea.
It may help you to have a visual plan, you could try the 12-week NHS plan.
Also, if you put down some numbers, it helps you with accountability and planning.
Walking, how many times a week, what distance, terrain, involve a buddy, etc.
What is the time frame to achieve size 14, etc.
Just some ideas, good luck on your journey. I hope you will achieve your goal soon, you can't be very far.
Thanks Elisabeth3, have already downloaded the nhs plan and have a dog so walk everyday anyway, but seem to have stacked on the weight since starting menopause... usually Im a good healthy eater but for the last year or so I seem to have put on a stone which is proving really hard to shift.
Have done 6 week sugar detox before and felt so much healthier so heres hoping I can do it sgain.
From your reply here and reference to menopause, I'll give you something else to read that will suggest an alternative approach to calorie counting, which is the basis of the 12 week plan

If you do decide to follow the 12 week plan, please be aware that the 1400 calorie figure you will see is generic and suits very few of us. You need to get a personalised range from the NHS BMI calculator nhs.uk/live-well/healthy-we... and aim for the upper half of the range
