Advice required 🙈

I am desperate for some advice, any tips appreciated , been looking for similar situations but the advice is always go back to what you know works but I’ve tried and failed too many times! About 3 years ago at 27 I was sitting at around 160/170 pounds, 18–20% body fat, those are in the ballpark from what I can remember, I broke my arm and then came the dreaded wall, I could never get that buzz back for working out and keeping my diet controlled. I’m now 30 sitting at 215 pounds, 29.5% body fat and muscle mass there isn’t any! For the past 3 years my monthly schedule looks like about 2.5 weeks eating right calorie counting etc, 1.5 weeks dreadful anything goes and about 8/10 days working out for the whole month. My biggest downfall is always occasions when it comes to diet could be going 3/4 days amazing then comes a work meeting, day out with family, night at the pub and it just goes to **** for about 5 days straight. With working out I just don’t seem to have the energy at all anymore which I would probably put down to a poor diet? Working hours are 8-5 after that all I want to do is go home and curl into a ball! I’m at that stage now we’re my kids are looking at my eating habits which are erratic at best, my doctor said my blood pressure is high for my age and I want that energy back for myself and the kids , so again any advice would be amazing👍

Hello, IanB1989, and welcome to the forum 😊

It's a bit daft for people to tell you to go back to what you know works, when what you've done in the past doesn't work or you wouldn't be here now. I think most of us have been down the route of dieting before realising it's not us that's the problem, it's diets!

I'm going to give you some things to read and watch that could give you a different approach. Take your time reading and viewing and see if it all makes sense.

Hey IanB and welcome.

There's going to be specific replies to your thoughts and circumstances but I thought you might like to go back and read just the posts and replies this morning. There's already been some starters in similar positions to you and responses to them.

On top of that, I would suggest that you try and come here as regularly as possible, supporting others and acquiring support. The feeling of working with others can be quite supporting.

Post as many questions as you've got and they'll all be answered.

Good luck :)

Hi, IanB1989 , Welcome

Look on the bright side - you are not even obese!

You need a sustainable diet that you can stick to.

Eat enough at meal times, including fat - see the Low-Carbohydrate High-Fat forum here on Health Unlocked.

Not Eating All Day (aka Intermittent Fasting) stimulates the metabolism and helps you lose weight - set yourself a time in the evening after which you do not eat... and gradually make that time earlier. See my post on the Fasting and furious forum here on Health Unlocked:

healthunlocked.com/fasting-...

Eat less

Exercise - even if you only walk a few miles a day.

LCHF diet

Intermittent Fasting (IF can be combined with almost any other strategy)

You have already put energy out there by posting so well done.

I know you will get lots of good advice and I would only advise; don't try to fix it all at once, cherry pick what works for you in a given week and don't get bogged down in details.

If spending time with your children be it mealtimes or games is important focus on how you use that time.

Once you get some positivity going you can incorporate 'healthy' eating - get the kids to help with a weeks menu or pile into the kitchen.

However good the advice is, it has to work for you. Be kind to yourself
